Interview with Luigi Calligarich, CEO of the company
Electron Mec is at the side of those who want to innovate: therefore on the 12th of November it will attend, as a protagonist, the most important European semiconductors tradeshow .
Electron Mec has been known for over half a century as a point of reference in the diffusion of cutting edge technologies in Europe . An wide set of innovative solutions that the Milanese company brings with skill and authority both in Europe and overseas. Importers, distributors and maintainers, its engineers operate both in the supply of technology and as disseminators and facilitators of innovation. To better understand their vision we interviewed Luigi Calligarich, its CEO and also number one of the “sister” Visiorobotics, a company specialized in advanced robotics.
What is SEMICON and why is it such an important opportunity?
“It is a four-day conference dedicated to semiconductor manufacturing technologies. A fair that SEMI, the global association of the industry that serves the design and manufacturing of microelectronics, has been successfully organizing for several decades now. Present in the main industrial areas of the world, it creates an opportunity for discussion between the various stakeholders in the sector. Naturally open to all, the seven-eight SEMICON tradeshows promoted annually are an indispensable tool for investigating new solutions, being made aware of the latest advancements in research and creating relationships between technicians and specialists. The appointment with the first day of the event will be in Munich on November the 12th, and we at Electron Mec will not miss it”.
But in reality it will not be the first time for you…
“Until now we were always present at the side of the numerous partners we collaborate with and whose technological solutions and know-how we convey. For a few years, however, we have no longer been just ‘distributors’: we have achieved the status of information collectors that we have always aimed to be. We consider ourselves more as a pool of knowledge and information, a goal that drives our actions and decisions
Electron Mec now boasts a branch in France, constant activity and presence in Spain, Germany and Northern Europe. We operate with continuity and roots throughout the EU: this is why we have resolved to play a more active role in SEMICON EUROPE”.
And how will this presence unfold?
“A couple of years ago we became members of Silicon Saxony and it will be in its dedicated area that you can find us. Five of our engineers will be dedicated in particular to meeting customers: we will study their requirements and help them to find the suppliers that best suits their needs. In short, we will have an active support role to share skills and technologies that answer the current and future needs for anyone who wants it. This is why we could not miss out. To once again be facilitators of synergies, creators of proactive networks and profitable collaborations. Because technology (including semiconductors) makes giant strides every day, but only by putting it in relation can it really make a difference”.
Will you continue to operate as suppliers and installers?
“Certainly. Our best engineers are always ready to identify, alongside customers, latest-generation devices, machinery and production lines, accompanying them with activities and training of the personnel involved. Alongside this, however, we have made it our goal to always be updated on every innovation and technological development that comes onto the market or is a hot research topic. This is why our technicians constantly travel all over the world: to train and test new developments. It is no coincidence that Electron Mec participates, often as an active player, in the best events and conferences, including those of the most important universities. We also operate with various research centers, from CERN in Geneva, to the Italian CNR and INFN, passing through the CNRS and CEA in France, IMEC in Belgium and so on throughout Europe”.
What do you expect from the Munich experience?
“Certainly to confirm our role as facilitators of technology transfer between the various countries. Ensuring those who turn to us that we can find effective solutions to their most complex and pressing needs thanks to the latest innovations on the market. Acquiring and transmitting information. But above all demonstrating the value of listening, experience, collaboration and sharing knowledge”.
